For holiday season 2020, a large monopolistic e-commerce platform wanted a series of social spots, showing the inherent shame of purchasing something behind schedule. Oh no.

Each spot used a varied colour palette and copy unique to that spot, so Scholar needed a system that could easily adapt to anything the end client threw at it.

The Toolkit

The toolkit itself was able to update the text layout as needed, while preserving Scholar's animating, recolourable ribbon that would always fit the text – while still allowing the end artist to hand-tweak the overall pacing of the reveal – and mirror out to a variety of social aspect ratios.

Per-Line Text Ribbons

On the technical side of things, this project required lovatt to build a specific rig for live text backdrop "ribbons," scaling per line of text, which is typically a fairly difficult task to achieve.

After a brief R&D phase, we developed a solution for this toolkit that hit the closest to the target brief without compromising the client-approved look & feel.
